Kenora Nordic and Biathlon Club athletes attended the Biathlon Manitoba Provincial races at Falcon Lake on February 17 & 18th, 2018.
Race format on Saturday was a Sprint event which requires two trips into the range to shoot and skiing three circuits on the trails. Racers had to ski an extra penalty loop for every missed shot.
Race format on Sunday was a Mass Start, with all athletes starting at the same time and shooting 4 times.
Kenora athletes put to good use the training received on the range this fall at the Lake of the Woods Gun Club (lwgc.ca).
Provisional results for Kenora athletes:
Saturday Sprint race:
Carl Peever 1st place in the Developmental Men 19+ Category, skiing 6km total.
Michelle Simone 1st place and Jennifer Findlay 2nd place in the Masters Women 35+ age category, skiing 6 km total;
Tim Wehner 1st place in the Masters Men 35+ age category, skiing 6km total.
Sunday Mass Start race:
Michelle Simone 1st place;
Tim Wehner 1st place.
