Finally Mother Nature has given us a healthy dose of the good stuff. Natural snow that is. Overnight on Monday Jan 30th we received about 10 cm of snow which is by far the most all season. We had it packed and groomed across all runs by 4pm on Tuesday. The weather will be AMAZING this weekend so make sure you get out here to enjoy the warm temps and the new snow.
On Sunday Feb 5th we will be having some “just for fun” downhill races. Prizes are bragging rights…except for one main prize. Everyone 14 and older who enters the race has a chance to win 2 tickets to see Simple Plan, Marianas Trench, All Time Low at the MTS Centre Feb 16th.
Sign-up sheets and details will be in the main chalet on Saturday Feb 3rd. There will be 2 courses set-up. One for Jr. racers and one for Sr. racers. Races will begin around 1pm with the Jr. race first. Remember this is for fun so come out and try “bashin” some gates.

Once again the world renowned Banff Mountain FIlm Festival will be making a stop in Kenora on Saturday Jan 7th at Saint Thomas Aquanis High School Gym on the BIG screen. The doors open at 6:30 and the movies begin at 7pm and end time wil be 9pm (or shortly there after). Tickets are only $18 in advance and $23 at the door and are available at Mount Evergreen Ski Club, Boardanyone and The Hardwear Co.
This year we have a good selection of movies about skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, rock climbing, slacklining (which is like tightrope walking but much cooler!!), kayaking, and a really interesting “stop animation” film.
Some of the movies are very inspirational with hart warming stories of people overcoming adversity and others are just plain fun to watch. This year we have kept to the shorter movies with the longest movie being 20 minutes and most being 10 minutes or less. We will have 10 movies in total so there will be something for everyone.
The proceeds of the event go to support youth ski programs at local schools as well as at Mount Evergreen. Please get your tickets early to show your support and help us to continue to bring this event to Kenora. We can’t do it without the support of the community.

Yes you heard right…our official opening will be Friday Dec 16th for night skiing. Get your skis/boards all waxed up and ready to go as we will be open at 5pm. The snowmaking system was fired up on Thursday Dec 1st and eventhough we haven’t had great snowmaking weather we have been able to get a great base down on most runs. We will be making snow right upto Friday and hopefully we will be able to have all three lifts going by the end of the weekend. The terrain park and main runs are in excellent shape with a 10″ to 12″ base. Skyline ant B slalom still need a bit more snow before we can safely open them. Check back or follow us on Facebook “Mt.Evergreen Ski Club”.
