With the bizarre temps we have been experiencing, especially the nights above freezing, a majority of our snow has melted. We had hoped to stay open for at least the March Break but Mother Nature was not very nice. We appreciate the extra effort our staff went to to keep the hills and lift lines covered in snow so we could play as long as possible.
So now it is time to do our shut down work and would like to invite anyone interested in volunteering to help us to contact Blair at the hill (548-5100 or mtevergreen@kmts.ca). We can’t pack the chalet up as we are hosting the Kenora Swimming Sharks and their banquet on April10th but all the outside work needs to be done.
We are planning on having work crews out on the weekend of March 27, 28 from 10-4 both days. If you are able to help us out one of the days we would greatly appreciate it.
The usual work such as taking the T bars off, maintenance to the lift, removal of fencing, moving the terrain park elements off the hill and general clean-up of the hill will be done. There are also some other projects we would like to finish as well such as siding the new garage and power house, and work in the rental shop.
So once again if you are interested in helping us out contact Blair. Mt Evergreen relies on volunteers to help us keep our costs down especially during the start of the season (snow making, hill prep) and the end of the season as there is A LOT of work to be done. We are able to sign off on volunteer hours so this is also a good opportunity to work on those.
Thanks again to all of our members and those new to skiing who came out to Mt. Evergreen this year. Even with the early melt we can still say we had a good season as we were able to open early because of our new snow making system. This was a perfect year to demonstrate how valuable all the hard work and financial support our staff, members and the community provided was. If not for the man made snow it would have been well into the second week of January before we would have been able to open. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!
We hope to see everyone again next year and remember the best deal on memberships for the 2010/20111 season will be at Mass Registration this fall. We will have info posted on our site once we have a date from the city for mass registration.
Have a safe summer!
