I didn’t get a chance at the awards ceremony, but I would like to officially thank the absolutely fantastic crew we had out today!
We projected that we would be done by 2:00 PM, and I think it was 2:15 when the last skier pasted the gate. This time projection was based on numbers from last year’s Sprints, and we had a lot more participants. So, 56 heats later we were finished. That is an average of about 3 minutes/heat, so my revised projection at 6:00 this morning was 4:00 PM, so pat yourselves on the back!
A special mention goes out to Todd and Tim for grooming and course set-up, Ray for coordinating the awesome start/finish crew, Nuala for the controller group, the bib angels Betsy, Kati, and Gwen who survived the rebibbing (who’s idea was that anyway?), ski patrol, Martha C who took on results and all its headaches, Kathy V for the morning set-up, Mike Doig who never stopped inputting things into the computer, Sue who kept the flow going, and to all the kids, athletes, and coaches who came to enjoy the day.
Also a big bouquet to the Mount Evergreen executive and volunteers who worked around the clock to get the chalet, kitchen, and wax room in order, and stopped doing their opening work to set up for us this weekend! It says a huge thing about our two clubs when one suspends its own activities to allow the other to utilize their space! For that I am eternally grateful.
So, a huge thanks to a fantastic ski community!
Go and ski and enjoy!
